SILICA DUST WARNING

As you know, Caesarstone surfaces contain silicate minerals, such as crystalline silica (SiO2). For full information about the surfaces’ ingredients, about hazards involved in fabricating the surfaces and safety measures thereof, please see:

Caesarstone’s SDS

Caesarstone surfaces are not hazardous as shipped and used by end consumers. However, their fabrication, including cutting, grinding, polishing, shaping, etc., involve the generation of hazardous dust, which contains crystalline silica (SiO2).

WORKERS WHO INHALE SUCH HAZARDOUS DUST DURING FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION ARE AT RISK FOR HEALTH DAMAGES SUCH AS: SILICOSIS (AN INCURABLE, PROGRESSIVELY DISABLING AND SOMETIMES FATAL LUNG DISEASE), LUNG CANCER, CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD), KIDNEY DISEASE AND OTHER HEALTH DAMAGES. SUCH HEALTH DAMAGES CAN BE PREVENTED IF THE REQUIRED SAFETY MEASURES ARE IMPLEMENTED.

Any kind of fabrication work of Caesarstone surfaces requires strict compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, standards and practices (such as air monitoring, medical monitoring, training, engineering controls and personal protective equipment [PPE] etc.). Employers must ensure that their workers are properly protected from exposure to silica dust and for that purpose must consult with a health and safety specialist.

Everyone who distributes Caesarstone products to fabricators must inform them of the importance of their responsibility to provide a safe working environment for all their employees and contractors and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
